An industry leader is gone. Jon-Don will be missed.
On May 9, 2025, Jon-Don officially ceased operations, closing a significant chapter in the professional cleaning and restoration industry. Founded in 1978 by John and Nick Paolella, the company grew to serve professionals across carpet cleaning, disaster restoration, janitorial services, and more.
Jon-Don grew to 22 locations from coast to coast, including 12 showroom/warehouses. They were known not just for supplying equipment and products, their expert trainers were also widely respected and instrumental in driving growth for many.
Jon-Don’s co-founder Dominic "Nick" Paolella, passed away on February 17, 2022 at the age of 86. Despite recent ownership changes, including an acquisition by Incline Equity Partners, Jon-Don remained a vital industry player until its closure. Aramsco purchased the assets of Jon-Don. Though sadly, many vendors and customers of the now defunct Jon-Don have reported that they’ve been left with unresolved transactions. And a number of former Jon-Don employees are also now without a job.
It’s sad to see the loss of what was once an industry leader. The original Jon-Don that emerged and grew from humble beginnings 47 years ago will be missed. As I’ve thought about the Jon-Don situation, naturally I’ve reflected on our company’s strengths and weaknesses. The lesson for me is to stay small, and remain as debt free as possible. Small business are more nimble. In fact, that’s why we’ve intentionally kept Excellent Supply as simple and straightforward as possible for the past two decades. Jon-Don’s closure emphasizes that this is a wise course to follow.
Of course, no one can foretell the future. There are concerns about tariffs, and uncertainties with the national and international economies. In spite of these concerns, our Excellent Supply team is planning to keep right on doing our best to serve the industry we love. I’d also like to take this moment to thank our amazing customers for being a part of our journey. We plan to help you Max Your Encap for years to come.
